trail uses. In this location the arch is successfully used to accommodate both
bicycles and pedestrians.

The open bottom of the Long Span Arch minimizes environmental impacts to the
channel and preserves the natural fish habitat as required by many fisheries
departments.
Precast Long Span Arch elements are delivered to the site via truck
and generally off-loaded directly onto cast-in-place footings. The precast elements
are set side-by-side on elastomeric bearing pads within a preformed keyway in the
footing. The keyway is subsequently filled with grout locking the elements together.
Precast head walls are secured to the arch elements with galvanized metal tie backs
and additionally supported by the placement of the precast wing wall sections.
Wing wall elements are secured to the footings by anchor rods, drilled and grouted
into the footing after the elements are set. Following construction of the cast-in-place
footings, a typical structure can be set and back filled in as little as one week.
